Obtaining Job Posting
Information
STC/SM
distributes announcements about job openings in technical
communications, along with other chapter news and information,
to STC/SM Members through the STC/SM Chapter Listserv.
If you are an STC/SM Member, subscribe to the STC/SM Chapter
Listserv to receive chapter communications and job postings
by email. While STC/SM Members receive the first opportunity
to respond to postings through this job posting service,
STC/SM posts the jobs to the public website soon after
the listserv announcement Please review the information
on the Listserv webpage for
details about subscribing.
How STC/SM Distributes
Job Postings
The
STC/SM Chapter distributes announcements about job openings
in technical communications to STC/SM Members first, before
distribution to the public and other technical communicators,
in four ways. After receiving an email with a job posting,
the Job Board Manager sends the information to the STC/SM
Chapter Listserv. Releasing the information to the public,
the STC/SM Chapter Website is updated soon after, followed
by announcements at the next chapter program meeting,
and publication in the next chapter newsletter.
STC/SM
Chapter Listserv—Chapter listserv subscribers
receive all job postings, along with other chapter news
and information, by email. This enables the STC/SM Job
Board Manager to announce job postings soon after receiving
the details.
STC/SM
Job Board—All job postings are published
on the public STC/SM Chapter Website on this page, the
STC/SM Job Board webpage. Postings generally remain on
this website for at least 60 days from the date included
in the listing.
Program Meetings—STC/SM makes information
about current job postings available to members who attend
chapter program meetings. Chapter program meetings are
generally held September through June throughout southeastern
Michigan.
Chapter
Newsletter—To keep members informed of
the current job market and companies that hire technical
communicators, STC/SM publishes submitted job postings
in the STC/SM Chapter Newsletter, TECHcomments, available
from the Chapter Newsletters
webpage. Job posting information is automatically included
in the next issue of TECHcomments.
